Home of The Mel Blackwell Experience Podcast.
Birmingham-based musician, Nick Blackwell, and his father, Mel Blackwell have joined forces to create a rich, soulful recording studio… Scout‘s Rest Studio.
The first recording session produced our first studio release, I’m Going Home by Nick Blackwell, as well as the EP All The Way. Auburn based artist, Stuart Bell’s single Colorado was produced and released at Scout’s Rest Studio.
Scout’s Rest Studio is located in scenic Mountain Brook, Alabama, convenient to downtown Birmingham.

Nick Blackwell - Drinking Up
In a recent interview Nick talked about his new song… “I wrote the verse to Drinking Up four years ago. It took another year to write the chorus, bridge and instrumental sections. Then I spent 2.5 years arranging, recording, and mixing. I could not convince myself the song was finished until now. I am thrilled to announce Drinking Up is finished and will be released February 22, 2026!
